At the end of June, Don Learned publicly announced his resignation from the Barton Community College Board of Trustees due to moving to Texas later this summer.
At Monday’s board meeting, Chairman Mike Johnson said the college is still accepting applications to fill Learned’s remaining term which ends Dec. 31, 2025. Interested individuals can submit an application by Aug. 13 at 3 p.m.
"We are inviting those that have turned in application packets to be present at the study session Aug. 13," said Johnson. "That will allow the board some additional time to discuss those packets, discuss with those individuals the process and ask any questions we may have."
As of Monday, there have been two applications submitted for the board position. Applications can be picked up at the college’s president’s office.
Learned's replacement will be announced at the Aug. 27 meeting.
