From the city of Great Bend

Downtown Great Bend is the place to be on Friday, June 5. The city of Great Bend is throwing a welcome party for Rocky Mountain Race Week at Dry Lake Brewing from 4-8 p.m., while Great Bend Alive presents the 12th Annual Art & Wine Walk. This evening offers something for everyone – whether car and drag racing enthusiasts, art and wine connoisseurs or for those who just enjoy community events.

After a three-year hiatus due to the SRCA Dragstrip being out of commission, the city of Great Bend is excited to welcome Rocky Mountain Race Week back into town. This annual, week-long event challenges its competitors to race and drive across three states in just six days.

Great Bend serves as both the starting point and finish line for the tour. Following opening day at the SRCA Dragstrip on Saturday, June 6, participants will travel to Kearney, Neb., and Pueblo, Colo., before returning to Great Bend on Friday, June 12, for the final day shootout.

In conjunction with the welcome party, Great Bend Alive will host the 12th Annual Art & Wine Walk from 5-8 p.m. Originally established to promote downtown shopping, local artist and culture in Great Bend, this event has become a beloved community tradition.

Participating stores will provide complimentary beverages to the customers inside their establishments; however, drinks must remain on the premises and cannot be carried between locations.

The city of Great Bend Convention and Visitors Bureau will set up at Dry Lake Brewing for the Rocky Mountain Race Week Welcome offering promotional giveaways. The public is encouraged to come and greet the racers, check out their vehicles and stick around to participate in the Art & Wine Walk.
