Sherry Eyvonne Smolik, 61, passed away August 4, 2022, at the University Of Kansas Health System - Great Bend Campus, Great Bend, Kan. She was born October 20, 1960, in Heizer to Manuel and Claudia (Piland) Biles. Sherry married Tom Smolik in 1978 in Great Bend. They later divorced, but maintained their friendship.
A longtime Heizer resident, Sherry also resided in Oklahoma where she worked as an RN and taught within the nursing program at OSU from 1988 to 1998. She was a faithful member of the Church of God and was an accomplished artist and poet. Sherry treasured time with her family, and having a servant's heart, never hesitated to lend a hand to a friend or family member in need.
Survivors include, her daughter, Heather Ramirez and husband Anthony of Great Bend; five sisters, Brenda Johnson of Albuquerque, NM, Lavonna Lick and husband Jerald of Peoria, Ariz., Susan Hartsell and husband Richard of Wagoner, Okla., Karla Biles of Great Bend, and Rhonda Suppes and husband Richard of Hutchinson; sister-in-law, Paula Biles of Great Bend; and five grandchildren, Anthony R. Ramirez, Zae Ramirez, Deziree Smith, Destiny Sanchez, Mahala Sanchez. She was preceded in death by her parents; her son, Chris Smolik; brother, Robert Biles; and a brother-in-law, Bob Johnson.
Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, August 10, 2022, at Bryant Funeral Home, with Rev. Dick Ogle presiding. Interment will follow at Great Bend Cemetery, Great Bend. Visitation will be from noon to 8:00 p.m., Tuesday, August 9, with family receiving friends from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m., all at Bryant Funeral Home, Great Bend.
