The Kansas Department of Transportation announced approved bids for state highway construction and maintenance projects. The letting took place Jan. 22 in Topeka.
Among the approved bids for January was a project in District Five, or the South Central division. In Barton County, U.S. 281 Highway was approved for a milling and overlay. The project will begin at the north city limits of Great Bend to the south city limits of Hoisington.
The 8.9 miles of U.S. 281 to be resurfaced will be contracted out to Venture Corporation of Great Bend for more than $1.8 million.
