A new year, a slightly new Great Bend City Council. One of the eight members of the council changed following the General Election results. On Monday night, City Clerk Shawna Schafer administered the Oath of Office to the newly elected officials.

Gary Parr was the only change to the council. Incumbents Kevyn Soupiset, Davis Jimenez and Tina Mingenback all won uncontested races to earn another two-year term.

Parr was elected to represent Ward 1 on the city council. Parr garnered 544 votes in the General Election compared to the 437 votes for incumbent Lindsey Krom-Craven.

Following the Oath of Office, the council elected Cory Urban to serve as the president of the council. Urban will serve in the temporary absence of the mayor.
