PAWNEE COUNTY – Fawad Amiri, 35 of Wichita, appeared in custody Tuesday via tele-video in the Pawnee County District Court before Magistrate Judge Kenneth Schmidt for formal First Appearances, according to Pawnee County Attorney Doug McNett.

Amiri is charged with a single count of Aggravated Sexual Battery alleged to have occurred on or about July 16, 2026. The charge stems from an investigation by the Larned Police Department following a referral from an out of county law enforcement agency on July 21, 2026, alleging that a victim had reported being sexual assault when she utilized a medical transport service following a medical appointment within the City of Larned.

Following the First Appearance, Judge Schmidt set bond at $100,000 bond cash or surety. As a condition of bond, the defendant was ordered to surrender his passport. Amiri is an Afghani citizen with permanent residency status in the United States.

A Preliminary Hearing was scheduled for September 8, 2026. Amiri remains in custody at the Pawnee County Jail.
