As the Great Bend Recreation Commission prepares to turn the calendar page to July next month, a wage increase will be set in place for the staff. Following an executive session Monday afternoon that took less than 10 minutes, Great Bend Rec Board member Chuy Loera made the motion to approve the pay increase.
"I would like to make a motion to approve the $70,000 to appropriate wage increase for administration, supervisors and seasonal staff, effective July 1, 2025," said Loera.
The motion passed with a 5-0 vote.
As discussed in 2021, the Great Bend Recreation Commission made a plan to increase their tax rate to stay competitive with staff wages. Last year, the Rec Commission Board was able to approve $110,500 in wage increases for the GBRC staff.
