Robert Louis “Bob” Eveleigh, 93, passed away November 11, 2024, at Wilson Care and Rehabilitation, Wilson, Kansas. He was born on October 25, 1931, in Barton County, to Frank and Liva Della (Sharp) Eveleigh. On August 24, 1954, he married Lorrayne Mills in Great Bend. She passed on January 21, 2021.
A lifetime Barton County resident, Bob served his country in the United States Army. He went on to work as a farmer and truck driver, owning and operating Eveleigh Trucking, as well as Eveleigh Hay Hauling in the 1980’s. Bob was a member of Foundry Methodist Church, Flying Farmers of America, and Million Miler Club, having driven over one million miles with the same Cat engine in his Kenworth truck. He loved taking care of his cattle, and spending time with his family.
Survivors include daughter, Michelle Al Ashry; two grandchildren, Bobby Eveleigh and wife Ploy of Florida, and Katie Nelson and husband Nick of Wilson; four great grandchildren, April Eveleigh, Emmalyn Eveleigh, Braden Nelson, and Blaine Nelson; sister, Dorothy McIntyre of Las Vegas, Nevada; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his wife; his parents; son, Todd Eveleigh; two brothers, John Eveleigh and Charles Woodrow Eveleigh; and six sisters, Ruby Bramel, Myrtle Eveleigh, Maude Habiger, Jessie Pedigo, Pearl Birzer, and Florence Saunders.
Visitation will be held from noon to 8:00 p.m. Thursday, November 14, 2024, with family receiving guests from 5:00 p.m. to 7: 00 p.m., all at Bryant Funeral Home. Funeral service will take place at 10:00 a.m. Friday, November 15, 2024, at Bryant Funeral Home, with Pastor Aaron Withrow presiding. Interment will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Park.
