Personalities and behavior of employees are not to be presented during this period but are to be reported to the employee’s immediate supervisor. The president shall determine the amount of time to be spent for citizen participation.

Each month, a district director will present department updates to board members. Tonya Miller, Director of Human Resources, will provide a report to board members at this meeting.

5. NEW BUSINESS
A. Presentation of 2023-2024 Business Audit
The 2023-2024 business audit report and governance letter of AdamsBrown, LLC, have been prepared. Danielle Hollingshead, CPA, will present the report and answer related questions. The audit will be recommended for board approval. Board members may seek additional information before the meeting by contacting Khris Thexton at the DEC or Danielle Hollingshead at the office of AdamsBrown, LLC.
B. First Reading Approval of CTE Fine Arts Credits
Great Bend High School is seeking approval to make additional CTE courses eligible to count as a fine arts credit, which is a graduation requirement. GBHS administration and CTE instructors will present their proposal. This is a First Reading.
C. First Reading PreK-12 Health Living Curriculum Adoption
The District Healthy Living team will present their recommendation for the adoption of materials for the PreK-12 social, emotional, and character development curriculum. This is a First Reading.
D. Approval to Request 2025-2026 E-Rate Funding
Administration requests BOE approval for 2025-2026 E-rate funding requests, as itemized below. Services are provided through Nextech.
6. CURRICULUM REPORT
A. State Assessments in USD 428
This is the first year of new state assessments for Kansas students. These assessments are still built around the same standards and similar tests. Since it is a new test, the state verifies that the scores will not be available until next year, around October. Great Bend Schools begin the KELPA assessments on February 3 and Math, English, Science, and Social Studies assessments at the end of March.
B. KESA Information/Update
USD 428 Great Bend District Leadership team attended the KESA day set up by KSDE on January 22. Great Bend paired up with other districts of similar size and demographics to discuss current data and develop an action plan for the next year.
C. Standards-Based Learning
District administrators will share how the district monitors student progress in learning Kansas state content standards and the district responses for students at all proficiency levels.
D. Preschool and Kindergarten Pre-Enrollment Information Fair
Mrs. Blevins will share the revisions to the district's annual Preschool and Kindergarten Pre-Enrollment Event scheduled for Wednesday, April 16, from 5:00-7:30 pm, at Little Panthers Preschool/District Education Center. The event connects families with information about USD 428 Preschool and Kindergarten programs and other community resources that serve young learners.
E. Summer Professional Development
Mrs. Blevins will provide a report on the process for developing summer professional development opportunities for teachers.
