In a tightly contested match Monday at the National Tournament in Hutchinson, Connors State College edged out the number one seed Snow College 63-62. Despite a strong second-half push by Snow, Connors held on to secure the win. DJ Dormu led Connors State with 16 points, while Edwin Daniel contributed a double-double with 13 points and 18 rebounds. For Snow, Chance Trujillo’s 15 points, including five three-pointers, were not enough to clinch the victory. Connors will advance to the next round, continuing their championship pursuit.
The No. 9 defending National Champion Barton Cougars are gearing up for a crucial second-round matchup against the No. 8 Daytona State Falcons. Set for a noon tip on Tuesday, the Cougars must first overcome Daytona State in order to advance to the quarterfinals, where they will face the Cowboys for a shot at a coveted Final Four berth.
