Entrepreneurs across Barton County will soon have the opportunity to turn big ideas into real businesses as the Ignite Rural Business Competition returns for 2026, bringing with it $95,000 in prize funding and renewed momentum for local economic growth.
Applications for the 2026 Ignite competition are now open, offering local entrepreneurs the opportunity to compete for a total of $95,000 in prize funding to launch or expand their businesses.
The competition aims to strengthen the local economy by encouraging new ideas, supporting small business development, and investing in long-term community vitality.
“Ignite continues to create meaningful opportunities for entrepreneurs to turn their vision into reality,” said Jason Kuilan, Executive Director of Great Bend Economic Development. “By providing funding, mentorship, and community support, we are helping build a stronger future for Barton County.”
Participants will submit a business plan and video pitch outlining their concept, market opportunity, and growth potential. Selected finalists will present their ideas to a panel of judges during a live competition event.
Prize awards include:
• $50,000 Grand Prize
• $30,000 Second Place
• $10,000 Third Place
• $5,000 People’s Choice Award
Ignite is open to both new and existing businesses located in Barton County. Organizers encourage individuals with innovative ideas or expansion plans to consider applying.
“This program is about more than funding,” said Kuilan. “It is about building confidence, strengthening our entrepreneurial ecosystem, and creating momentum for economic growth in our region.”
Applications will be accepted through July 1, with the live competition event scheduled for later this year.
