Ida Marie Crider Luse, 89, passed away July 17, 2022, at the University Of Kansas Health System - Great Bend Campus. She was born on June 30, 1933, in Phillipsburg, to Raymond & Gladys (Runion) Crider. She married Bert A. Luse, Jr. on January 13, 1957, at St. John’s Episcopal Church in Great Bend. He died September 13, 2006.
A longtime Great Bend resident, Ida was the owner and operator alongside her husband Bert of Sir Anthony's Bar, Some Other Place outdoor dance pavilion and many rentals. She graduated from Phillipsburg High School, received her Master's degree from Kansas Wesleyan University in Salina and her Bachelor's degree from Kansas State Teacher's College in Emporia. She taught music in Pawnee Rock and Great Bend schools, as well as 3rd grade at Riley Elementary. Ida enjoyed collecting antiques, traveling, playing bingo and gambling.
Survivors include, a cousin, Arleen Whittaker of Great Bend and her two daughters, Sheryl Butler and Michelle Benoit and their families; and her faithful caregiver, Richard Stanley. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Bert Luse, Jr.; and daughter, Diana Rae Scheuerman.
There will be no visitation as cremation has taken place and graveside services will be held at a later date. Memorials have been designated to Dreams, Inc., in care of Bryant Funeral Home.
