The name is changing but the service is not. Sandra Burton has 25 years of experience as a Licensed Massage Therapist. When she first came to Kansas, she operated as Sunflower Massage. Still operating out of Renue Salon and Spa, 1419 Main Street in downtown Great Bend, Sunflower Massage is now Sandra Burton Massage.
"When I was in Texas, Sunflower Massage sounded like the perfect name for my business," Burton said. "It is the state flower and it sounded relaxing. What I did not know was that I would be in a field of 'Sunflower' named businesses! As people got to know me, they were attaching 'massage' with my name. 'Sandra Burton Massage' made it more clear and more personal."
Along with the new name comes new services, including joint pain relief, a new bamboo massage, and soft-touch muscle lengthening. For the hot summer days, you can be greeted with chilled towels for your feet.
"I have added new treatments since I’ve been here, including Cupping, Hot Bamboo Massage, and Hot Himalayan Sea Salt Stone Massage," said Burton. "Those, along with Percussion Massage, hot steam towels, warm and cool compresses, allow me to meet my clients' needs and provide them with extra special care. I’m also starting specialty treatments - Joint Relief, Hand and Forearm Focus."
Burton grew up in the area before moving to Texas. Now back in Great Bend 50 years later, she has no doubt she's where she is supposed to be. Burton surpassed 25 years of experience as a Licensed Massage Therapist in June. She brought that experience to Great Bend 18 months ago and has enjoyed getting to know her new clients.
"Having those years of experience, along with my own personal quality of touch, is what makes me stand out from the competition," Burton said. "Nobody else can be me. Nobody else can give my massage. We can all use the same techniques and tools, even go to the same massage school, but what makes us different is who we are. It’s a reflection of how uniquely God made us."
