A tentative November start date has been set for the installation of a new splash pad at Veterans Memorial Park in Great Bend. Once started, the $680,000 splash pad should be finished in three to four months.
Assistant City Administrator Logan Burns updated the Great Bend City Council Monday on the project that will add the 50' x 70' splash pad on the north side of the park.
"We are planning on doing a pre-construction meeting and a site visit within the next two weeks," said Burns. "Construction documents have been completed on that, and that will start the fabrication process."
The council approved the splash pad purchase this past June from Athco LLC. The feature will come with a 3,000-gallon storage tank to recycle the water.
Funded through the .15% quality of life sales tax, the city will consider additional features surrounding the splash pad in the future, such a shelter to be rented out for parties.
