Barton women add two more national qualifiers

The Barton Community College women's track and field team competed in its second meet of the outdoor season on Saturday traveling to Winfield, Kansas, on Saturday for the Jinx Invite hosted by Southwestern College.

The Cougars put together ten personal best efforts among their fifteen performances, adding two new national qualifiers of its four results meeting national qualifying standard level.

The two punching their national ticket came in the hammer throw as the Cougars went 2-3-4 on personal best efforts in the event. Jada Sewell placed second on a 47.06m (154-05) distance while Arianna Rodriguez placed fourth at 44.70m (146-08). Efe Latham bettered her already national qualifying standing with a 45.95m (150-09) in coming in third.

Kelsie Murrell-Ross, who is already nationally qualified, led a 1-2-3 Barton finish in the discus throw with a person best 44.22m (145-01). Sewell took second at 38.86m (127-06) while Latham's personal best of 37.68m (123-07) placed third.

Other top performances included Jasmine Carson winning the triple jump (10.59m) and setting a new best in the 200m in placing 13th, two-sport athlete Molly Norris' personal best 1.45m taking third in the high jump, and Latham finishing 5th in the javelin.

Barton is off to Lubbock, Texas, for its next meet taking place Friday and Saturday in the Masked Rider Open hosted by Texas Tech University.
