Great Bend Post
The Great Bend City will consider several items at its first May meeting tonight at City Hall. The body will also hear a monthly report from Great Bend Economic Development Executive Director Jason Kuilan.
The council will consider a motion to approve donating the lot at 2320 Prairie Rose Drive for the purpose of building a single-family dwelling to Brentwood Builders. In December 2025, the city agreed to a land purchase with Keller Real Estate on one lot in Amber Meadows for the purposes of constructing a single-family dwelling. If approved, the agreement with Brentwood Builders would resemble that contract with Brentwood putting money into an escrow account. Once the home is constructed with a certificate of occupancy, Brentwood would receive the money back.
The council will also consider approving resolutions related to the 2026 Kansas Department of Transportation TA (Transportation Alternative) Grant Opportunity. The grant would allow for pedestrian crossing improvements at 10th and Main, and pedestrian improvements and accessibility at Forest Ave. from Main to Williams. KDOT would cover 80 percent of costs associated with the projects. Tonight’s vote is merely to declare the city eligible to submit an application for the projects.
Tonight’s city council meeting begins at 5:30 p.m. at City Hall.
