HARVEY COUNTY—One person was injured in an accident just after 8:30 a.m. Tuesday in Harvey County.

The Kansas Highway Patrol reported a 2010 Ford Edge driven by Sarah Elizabeth Martin, 28, Newton, was westbound Kansas 196, just east of East Lake Road.

The SUV traveled left of center, entered the eastbound lane and struck a 2018 Peterbilt semi driven by Brentley Foster Wood, 35, Great Bend, head-on.

After impact, the Ford came to rest in south ditch. The semi continued southeast into the field. EMS transported Martin to Wesley Medical Center. Wood was not injured. Both drivers were properly restrained, according to the KHP.

KHP Trooper Joe Owen wrote, "here’s a sobering reminder for all of us to slow down and drive safely during winter weather."
