On Tuesday, June 20 at about 9 p.m., a deputy sheriff with the Barton County Sheriff's Office stopped a vehicle on K-96 Highway, near milepost 178 west of Great Bend. The vehicle was stopped for an equipment violation.
During the course the traffic stop, deputies became suspicious of potential drug activity and Sheriff’s Office K9 Maxx was deployed. Maxx alerted to the presence of illegal substances. The occupants of the vehicle were asked to exit at which time the driver, identified as Cory Little, age 41 of Hoisington, became combative. After a short struggle between Little and Sheriff’s deputies, he was taken into custody. Methamphetamine was found on Little’s person. Little was transported to the Barton County Jail without further incident where he was booked on charges of possession of methamphetamine and interference with a law enforcement officer.
Little was being held in lieu of a $10,000 bond which he has since posted.
