The Great Bend Recreation Commission will be hosting a free Stop ‘N Learn Session titled “World Water Day” on Wednesday, March 20, from 12:00 – 1:00 pm at the Great Bend Rec Activity Center (2715 18th Street). March 22, 2024, is World Water Day.
Mandy Kern with the Kansas Wetlands Education Center will give an update on the water conditions of Cheyenne Bottoms. She will also introduce a collaboration project between the KWEC, City of Hays Water Department, and K-State Research and Extension. The 4-H Water Ambassadors are a group of teens in Ellis and Barton counties focusing on the importance of water quality, conservation, and careers. After receiving training, the team leads water themed activities at a variety of locations. Mandy will demonstrate a few of the activities the teens use and provide resources to encourage others to lead water conservation programs for organizations in which participants may be involved.
