Blizzard Energy opened in 2015 in Great Bend as a recycling facility for
tires. The company breaks down tires through heat and distributes the components.
Blizzard suspended operations during the COVID-19 pandemic and are attempting
to restart.
The City of Great Bend has been working with Blizzard to find terms that would
help them get back up to speed.
Blizzard desires to renew the lease near the Great Bend Municipal Airport, but
on a one-year term. Initial rent is $1,779 per month. This amount will remain
the same from their current agreement. Rent increases five percent each renewal
and goes to $2,850 per month upon return of the facility to full-time
operations.
The Great Bend City Council will hear a motion to approve the lease agreement
with Blizzad Energy. The meeting will held Monday at 6:30 p.m. at City Hall.
