The City of Great Bend is moving forward with a rose garden project to
be placed at the Great Bend Cemetery. The rose garden will be placed on the
south side of the mausoleum of the main cemetery on Broadway Avenue. 

City
Administrator Logan Burns said the city received two bids for the project with
the low bid coming from a local vendor.


"The other bid we received from a Wichita contractor sent a bid of $149,000," said Burns. "There was big difference. This will be using state funds that is only to be used for cemetery improvements. We'll be looking forward to getting that project going."

Kyle’s Lawn &amp; Tree in Great Bend will provide the materials for $22,675.25.
City crews will help with the labor, including concrete work, for the project
beginning this spring.&nbsp; &nbsp;&nbsp;
