Lel Limo guided the Barton Community College men's cross country team in their second meet of the season Friday morning at the FHSU Tiger Open held at Hays, Kansas Rolling Ridge Course.
Participating in a 4-mile race for the second time this season, Limo guided the four pack of Cougars with a fourth-place finish in the 49-participant field. The freshman displayed a solid effort turning in the program's third quickest 4-mile time 20:30.7, shaving over eight minutes off his season opening run two-weeks ago at the Terry Masterson Twilight Classic.
Lisbon Kiprono was Barton's second to cross the finish line adding a new personal best 23:44.3 for 34th place while Korbin Woods navigated the 4-mile course 42nd quickest in 25:04.6 falling three seconds off his personal best.
Jack Cole rounded out the Cougar four pack in 47th with a time of 26:49.1.
Claiming the team title was host school Fort Hays State University compiling 27 points while Jayhawk Conference foes Fort Hays Tech Northwest and Garden City Community College finished second and third with 43 and 58 points respectfully.
Kabelo Maja of Fort Hays Tech Northwest bested the 49-entrée field setting a course record 19:57.2 to edge out Fort Hays State University's Jaret Pfizenmaier's 20:07.2 and Christian Darrah's 20:27.2.
Barton will have some time off before their next meet coming in a tune-up at the Tiger Preview held October 12th at the Kansas Veterans Home in Arkansas City, Kansas before returning two-weeks later for the KJCCC/Region VI Championships.
