
The Barton County Historical Society will host it's own Research and Collections Specialist, Linda McCaffery as she presents the program "The Wise Wizard or a Clueless President?" at 7 p.m. Monday, Sept. 23. The program will be held in the Ray Schulz Research Library in the main museum building at 85 S. Hwy. 281, Great Bend. The program is free for members and those under 16 and $5 for all other attendees. Refreshments will be served following the program.
When L. Frank Baum was asked about his book "The Wonderful Wizard of Oz", he replied, "I wrote the story but no one got it." Since 1900, the debate has continued about the beloved children's story. Is there a deeper meaning to the story? Is it a commentary on politics and economics?
