Phyllis Debes, 87, passed away on July 30, 2026 in Wichita, KS. She was born on March 19, 1939 in Schoenchen, KS to John and Emmerencia (Munsch) Pfannenstiel. She married Eugene Debes in 1961; they later divorced.
She was a longtime resident of Great Bend, KS until moving to southeast Kansas for a number of years. She later resided in Lyons, KS until moving to Larksfield Place in Wichita where she lived until her passing.
After retiring from Sears, she was the owner of the Country Kitchen Café in Great Bend, KS. She loved to cook, especially when she could share what she made with family and friends. Her favorite pastimes were bingo, cards, and crafting.
She is preceded in death by her parents; son in law, C.D. Johnson, and her siblings: Rose Goeser, Elmer Pfannenstiel, Wilma Serpan, Phil Wahl, Vera Adams, LeRoy Pfannenstiel, Charles Pfannenstiel, Robert Pfannenstiel, and Linda Noltensmeier.
She is survived by her daughters, Jolene Johnson and Karla Seals; a brother, Herb Pfannenstiel; a sister Twila Griffith; five grandchildren: Adassa (Josh) Roe, Evan (Nicole) Johnson, Eric (Holly) Johnson, Rebekah (Peter) Goodge, Aaron (Melanie) Seals; nine great-grandchildren: Sheridan Johnson, Clayton Johnson, Will Roe, Dean Johnson, Piper Goodge, Rhys Goodge, Hunter Deisher, Amelia Deisher, and Logan Seals.
Graveside service to be held at Hillcrest Memorial Park Cemetery in Great Bend, Ks on Friday, August 21, 2026 at 11:30 a.m.
