A B-29 Superfortress, Mig-17s, a P-51 Gunfighter, parachute performers, a mini jet…the list goes on and on. The fifth Great Bend Airfest is shaping out to be one of the best airshows in the region.
As the September event is just over two months away, Great Bend Municipal Airport Manager Martin Miller said city staff is preparing to make sure everything runs smoothly for the three-day event.
"We have to worry about parking, crowd control, insurance, rental cars, tents, programs, Porta-potty, water and earplugs for people that need it and food vendors," said Miller.
With the event, Sept. 20-22, expected to cost an approximate $370,000, the City of Great Bend is accepting corporate and individual sponsorships.
"We have a dream team with all the guys that are coming," said Miller. "There is a lot more than just these guys coming here. Christina Hayes (Community Coordinator) has a big portion of that."
Tickets for Airfest will go on sale July 26. Ticket information and more details on Airfest can be found at greatbendairfest.com.
