After 34 years of business, Petroleum Electric has been purchased by Hammeke Electric.

Established in 1986, Petroleum Electric Company is a complete electrical sales and service company whose main focuses center on oil fields, agriculture, and irrigation systems covering the entire state of Kansas. The previous owners, Travis and Cheryl Peak approached Hammeke Electric about purchasing the company as they were wanting to move out of state.

Tim Hammeke, owner of Hammeke Electric, said they will keep the names of both companies as is and retain all of the employees of Petroleum Electric.

Hammeke says he plans to expand the oil field market and the most immediate changes will be internal processes.

“We are trying to automate their systems with paperless work orders and inventory. Basically, trying to make the day-to-day functions easier like logging all of the well information into a database so they have access to the information before they go out into the field,” explains Hammeke.

Hammeke Electric began in 2001 by Tim and Kim Hammeke and is a full-service electrical contractor providing services throughout Kansas with locations in Emporia and Great Bend.
