It is like calling ahead before you travel to the store to make sure they have what you want. Kansas Wetlands Education Center Director Curtis Wolf says the recent bird sightings feature on their website, wetlandscenter.fhsu.edu, allows anyone to get an idea of what birds are at Cheyenne Bottoms.

"We try to keep track of what is there," Wolf said. "We try to post recent bird sightings on the website every couple of weeks."

Wolf says there are reports of pelicans, gulls, egrets, ducks and even sandhill cranes made in the month of October.

Another option to keep up with bird watching is the website ebird.org. You can sign up, post your sightings and people from all over can follow along with migrations and bird locations.
