The Jayhawk West champion 10th ranked Barton Community College baseball team manufactured 23 runs over 14-innings Saturday afternoon at Williams Stadium closing out the regular season with a doubleheader sweep of Garden City Community College.
In the opener, the Cougars crossed the plate 11 times in the fourth inning coasting to a 14-1 fifth inning run-rule victory over the Broncbusters. Mixing things up in the season finale, Barton was gifted with balanced contributions up and down the lineup taking the nightcap 9-3.
Barton closes out the regular season with the top mark 26-6 in the Jayhawk West while tying for the most wins in program history at 47-8 overall. Garden City concludes the campaign at 3-30 in league play and 7-47 overall.
The Cougars will begin their quest for the Region VI/Plains District Championship hosting the first round in the best of three series against Labettte Community College Wednesday in a scheduled 1:00 p.m.
