The League of Women Voters (LWV) will host a candidate forum on Tuesday, Oct. 7, at the Events Center, 3111 10th Street in Great Bend. Doors open at 5 p.m. and the forum begins at 5:30 p.m. This year, the LWV is partnering not only with the Great Bend Chamber of Commerce but also with members of the Barton County Commission, expanding its reach and focus on community engagement.
On Oct. 7, candidates are running for contested positions for the USD 428 school board, Barton Community College Trustees, Great Bend mayor and City Council Wards 1, 2, and 3.
A separate candidate forum will be held on Thursday, Oct. 16, at the Friendship House on 429 E. 3rd in Hoisington. Doors open at 5:30 pm and the forum begins at 6 pm. The candidates are running for contested positions for the Hoisington mayor, and the USD 431 school board.
All candidates will answer questions that have been submitted to them prior to the forum. These forums offer a chance for voters to hear directly from local candidates and learn about their positions on key issues.
Everyone is welcome, and accessibility is emphasized. More information will follow as details are finalized. For questions, please, contact League President, Janice Walker, at 620-617-4568 or [email protected].
