The season continues for Great Bend baseball, taking on Salina Central as the lowest remaining seed in 5A, gathering their second straight upset win.
It was a big 3rd inning that was the difference for GBHS, as the Panthers got four unearned runs across in the inning to take control. Daxton Minton pitched five innings and earned the win, allowing the only run of the game for Central in the bottom of the first, but Minton was removed in the bottom of the 6th, as the bases were loaded with no one out. It was Jaxson Wandra who got the call, and who managed to strand the bases loaded to hold on to the lead.
Great Bend wound up winning by a final of 5-1, with all five runs unearned, and will play in the semifinal in Wichita Thursday against St. Thomas Aquinas, with the game starting at 11 AM.
