From the Rec
The Great Bend Recreation Commission (GBRC) is excited to welcome Alyssa Satterthwaite as the organization's new Accounting Director.
Alyssa brings a strong background in business administration, human resources, payroll, and management. Throughout her career, she has held positions with both a large retail company and a state government agency, where she gained valuable experience in leadership, personnel management, payroll administration, and day-to-day business operations.
Alyssa and her husband of nine years, Taylor, recently made the move to Great Bend from Manhattan, along with their two sons, Brody (5) and Braylen (3). The family is excited to put down roots in Great Bend and become involved in the community.
Born at Bitburg Air Base in Germany while her father served in the U.S. Air Force, Alyssa returned to the United States with her family as an infant. They eventually settled in Winfield, Kansas, where she was raised and graduated from high school.
Her passion for recreation began at an early age, participating in youth sports through her local recreation commission. Those experiences gave her a firsthand appreciation for the role recreation plays in bringing families together and creating lasting memories. She is especially excited for her own sons to grow up enjoying recreational sports and the many opportunities available in the Great Bend community.
Alyssa earned an Associate of Arts degree from Cowley County Community College before relocating to North Carolina with her family. She later received a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with a concentration in Management from East Carolina University.
Alyssa is excited to begin this new chapter with the Great Bend Recreation Commission and become part of the organization's strong team. She looks forward to connecting with the community, supporting GBRC's mission, and helping create positive experiences for the individuals and families the commission serves.
