Larned – Owen Harold Dixon, 76, passed away December 13, 2020 at Diversicare of Larned.
He was born June 17, 1944 in Hoisington, the sone of Owen Henry and Rilla Sawyer Dixon.
A longtime area resident he was of the Christian faith. He was a psychologist and worked for Larned State Hospital for 34 years and Larned Correctional Mental Health Facility for 10 years. He was a past member and president of USD 495 school board, member of the Sunrise board, a member and past president of Larned Country Club, and loved traveling, gambling and golfing.
On March 2, 1968 he married Janet Adams at Lewis; she survives.
Other survivors include: a son, Mike Dixon, Dallas, Texas; a daughter, Stacee Odom, St. Clair, Missouri; a sister, Verna Dixon, Portland, Oregon; and two brothers, David Dixon, Ellinwood, and Jim Dixon, Pittsburg, California.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Ona Barnes.
Memorial service will be 2:00 p.m. Friday, December 18, 2020 at Beckwith Mortuary Chapel, Larned with Pastor Bill Stapleton presiding. Service will be viewable via Facebook Live at www.facebook.com/beckwithmortuary. Military Rites will be presented by the United States Army immediately following the service. Visitation will be 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Thursday, December 17, 2020 at Beckwith Mortuary, Larned.
