Some time in jail, a suspended driver's license, fines, and higher insurance premiums. Those are just some of the personal costs of getting caught while driving under the influence. And they pale in comparison to the costs of injuring someone in an accident. That's why Sunflower Diversified Services and Eagle Radio are once again teaming up for the New Year's Eve Taxi on Dec. 31.

"Sunflower Diversified Services is happy to partner with Eagle Radio again this year to provide a safe and reliable way for community members to get home safely," said Sunflower Executive Director Shelby Zuniga. "We ask that you act responsibly and not drink and drive, and we will be available from 10 p.m. to 2 a.m., and can take you anywhere in Barton County to get you home safely. It's a $5 fee to Sunflower Diversified."

Nex-Tech Wireless will provide the wireless service for the phone to be used that evening. Anyone wanting a ride can call (620) 639-TAXI (8294) to get in touch with a safe driver between 10 p.m. and 2 a.m. The $5 minimum fee per person will go back to Sunflower Diversified.
