Barton Men

The Barton Community College men's bowling team took on its' toughest test of the early season this past weekend at the tier-1 Mid-States Championships held at North Rock Lanes in Wichita, KS.

Competing as one of three NJCAA programs, the Cougars mounted a 20th place finish in the field of 31 teams blasting down 9,189 pins over six individual games and 20-Baker games. Claiming the team title was host school Wichita State University accounting for 11,250 pins edging out St. Ambrose University's runner-up 10,681 and cross-town rival Newman University's 10,625.

Fresh off a third and fourth place finish at last weekend's SWIBC I and II, Bryce Moore remained the top Barton bowler recording a 63rd place finish in the stacked field of 283 participants. Moore posted a six game 1,163 while recording a trio of games over the 200-mark.

V-Thoon Thanasouk fell just five spots back of Moore earning a 68th finish tipping 1,149 pins in six games and also recorded three games over the 200-plateau.

Bowling in just five games, Oscar Rubio paced the varsity team with the highest game score of 234 and averaged a team high 194.4 earning a 126th finish.

Leading the Barton JV squad was Aidan Vanmetre's 93rd best pin count of 1,081 while Cale McConncell secured the highest individual round and average score between the two Cougar teams with a 237 score in his first of five rolled games and tournament average of 187.6.

Barton's next action comes this weekend in the 13th Annual Hammer Lions Classic held in St. Charles, Missouri.

Barton Women

Competing in just its' second tournament, the Barton Community College women's bowling team took on its' first tier-1 event of the season this past weekend at the Mid-States Championships held at West Acres Lanes in Wichita, KS.

Battling over six individual team games and 20-baker games, the Cougars concluded the weekend with a 17th, best mark of 7,956 pins in the field of 25-teams. Capturing the team title was host school Wichita State University rolling over a tournament best 9,473 pins edging out Mount Mercy University's runner-up 9,300 pin count.

Fielding a varsity and junior varsity team, Allyson Heidenreich of the JV squad led the 11 Barton entrants with a 76th place 914-pin count over six games rolled in the loaded field of 204 participants.

Following Heidenreich on the leaderboard was JV teammates Kristy Wittig's 101st score of 914 and Olivia Oliver's 810 total for a 104th finish.

Mallory Cross recorded the highest varsity finish earning a 103rd placing averaging a team best 161.6 per 10-frames in her five total games.

Consistency followed suit down the rest of the Cougar lineup with Anna Stanton (794), Cassidy Goans (793), Angelina Leeper (784), Ella Adkins (782), Courtney Kitchen (781), and Jasmine Bridges (777) conducting a string of Cougar finishes from 106th-111th respectfully.

Bridges accumulated the highest game score of 199 in the first of her five rolled games.

Leah Reid rounded out the Barton finishes with a 129th six-game score of 666.

Barton's next action comes this weekend in the 13th Annual Hammer Lions Classic held in St. Charles, Missouri
