Anthony Treto of the Barton Community College baseball team has been named the KJCCC and NJCAA Division I Pitcher of the Week.
The sophomore from Brighton, Colorado, was lights out in his season debut working the first leg of Barton's seven-inning combined no-hitter in the Cougars season opening 2-0 victory at Rose State College.
Treto faced 16-batters over his four innings worked allowing just one walk with five strikeouts in securing the victory.
Giving way to Antonio Mendez for the final three innings, the freshman reliver followed Treto's efforts collecting his first collegiate save permitting just one base runner coming off a two-out walk in the seventh before persevering Barton's first no-hitter since 2014 with his second strikeout.
Due to impending weather, Barton's scheduled four game home opening series this weekend with Western Nebraska Community College has been cancelled. The Cougars will have the weekend off before heading down to Texas for a trio of games beginning next Thursday at Howard College before closing the southern trip Friday with a doubleheader at Odessa College.
