Winning $100 is a good way to start any year. That's a lot of money for a kindergartner. Macie Galvan, in Miss Reif's class at Roosevelt Elementary School in Hoisington, was picked as the first 2026 weekly winner in Eagle Media's Make a Difference Contest, presented by OPI & Golden Belt Printing.

"I can make a difference by adding fun everywhere I go," Macie said.

All Barton County students, grades K-6, are eligible for the Make a Difference Contest, which will run for the duration of the 2025-26 school year. As a weekly winner, Macie and her teacher are now eligible for the monthly prize. That lucky student will win another $100 and a book bag filled with goodies from other contest sponsors, and her teacher will also receive $100.

The Make a Difference contest, presented by OPI & Golden Belt Printing, is sponsored in part by Big Ben Custom Engraving, Freedom Claims Management, Great Bend Redi Mix, Francis Financial, Medical Park Pharmacy, R&R Roofing, Allstaff Chartered, Miller Plastics, Rosencrantz Bemis Water Well Service, Great Bend Rec, Jimlo Glass Center, Haz Mat Response, & Scooter's Coffee.
