The Barton Community College volleyball program received distinguished Honor Roll academic honors as announced by the United State Marine Corps (USMC) and the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) for the 2021-22 academic year.
The award completes another outstanding year in the classroom under third year Head Coach Alan Segal as the Cougars were also named the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Academic Team of the Year for the third straight year.
Accumulating a 3.95 GPA, the Cougars compiled the highest GPA across all sports and division within the NJCAA.
A national classroom champion four of the past six years, this season's Cougars had each of its fifteen member roster earn NJCAA academic awards of over a 3.60 GPA including twelve earning first team distinction of a perfect 4.0 GPA.
The award, which was initiated in the 1992-93 academic year, honors collegiate and high school volleyball teams that displayed excellence in the classroom during the school year by maintaining at least a 3.30 cumulative team grade-point average.
Barton led just six teams to earn the Academic Honor Roll award, given to the top 20% of the twenty-five teams exceeding the GPA requirements. It is the third straight year and fifth of the last six years Barton has received Honor Roll distinction among their fourteen times on landing on the academic list.
