Great Bend Public Works Director Jason Cauley said after consulting
with the subcontractor, 237 retrofits for the 1” meters and antennas are
needed.
"We've done a hard count and believe this will be what we'll need to finish the project," said Cauley. "We are still waiting on some parts. We've been told some of the parts won't be delivered until mid-July. We're possibly looking at another change order to extend the timeframe out a little bit further."
The nearly $32,000 change order was approved for
additional parts from Zenner USA. The money will come from the equipment maintenance
budget. Depending on the speed of shipping, the city was hopeful to have the
project finished by July 3.
There are approximately 6,500 commercial and residential water meters in the
city’s service area.
