The drawings are complete for the new Great Bend police station to be built at the 12th Street and Baker Avenue intersection.
GLMV
Architecture handled the design and drawings and City Administrator Kendal
Francis said now the construction manager will go to work.
"It now goes to McCown-Gordon who will be working on developing the guaranteed-maximum price," said Francis.
No drawings are official until the maximum price is determined.
The design and
construction cost could be upward of $7.3 million. The city has approximately
$1.5 million in savings and the rest of the cost will come from the recently
passed .10% sales tax increase for bond debt.
The current police station on Williams Street is roughly 7,500 square feet and
was built in 1938. The new building will nearly triple the size of the police
station and could break ground as early as next spring.
