MANHATTAN, Kansas – K-State, a nine-seed in the Bridgeport Region, will compete in the 2022 NCAA Tournament first round against eight-seed Washington State on Saturday at 10:30 a.m., in Reynolds Coliseum in Raleigh, North Carolina.
• Saturday's game will air on ESPN2, as Sam Ravech (play-by-play) and Kelly Gramlich (analyst) will have the call.
• K-State's 10-win improvement from the 2020-21 season is the largest win improvement in the Jeff Mittie era and tied for the second-largest win increase from one season to the next in program history. It is the largest since the school record of 14 was set in the 2001-02 season.
• The Wildcats have been led this season by All-Big 12 First Team honoree Ayoka Lee and All-Big 12 Honorable Mention recipient Serena Sundell.
• Lee, a 2022 All-America and National Player of the Year candidate, is the first player in program history and the only player in the nation this season to register the combination of 675 or more points, 300 or more rebounds and 90 or more blocked shots.
• Sundell, a unanimous 2022 Big 12 All-Freshman Team selection, is second on the team in scoring (10.6 ppg). She is second in the Big 12 in total assists (171) and assists per game (5.5). A five-time Big 12 Freshman of the Week honoree, Sundell is the only freshman in the nation with 170 or more assists and 40 or more 3-point field goals made.
