Students who graduate from a nursing program are required to take an exam to receive their nursing license through the National Council Licensure Examination (NCLEX). The class of 2020 broke the already impressive previous records with a 100-percent pass rate for both the Registered Nurse (RN) and Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) exams.
This is the fourth consecutive year the LPN group achieved a 100 percent pass rate.
Dean of Workforce Training and Community Education Dr. Kathy Kottas credited the college’s team of dedicated nursing instructors for providing high-quality coaching to their hard-working students.
“For the first time in school history, we have a 100 percent pass rate at both levels, RN and LPN,” she said. “They guided our students through one of the craziest spring semesters in history and helped them accomplish greatness. I’m so grateful for everything they have done and continue to do for our students, for each other and for Barton.”
A nursing license gives an individual the permission to practice nursing and is granted by the Kansas State Board of Nursing.
