Great Bend Post
Roughly a month ago, Live Like Jesus Ministries opened a warming shelter in Great Bend for anyone nearby to take advantage of during a cold stretch of days. With multiple inches of snow accumulation expected and with a temperature high set at two degrees Tuesday, the warming shelter will reopen.
Buzz Birney, with Live Like Jesus Ministries, said the shelter has been well used in the past.
"There are quite a few that spend the night and are there 24 hours," said Birney. "There are a lot of people that come in throughout the day to hang out and get out of the cold. We have food there all the time."
The warming shelter will be located in the Anchor Room, on the east side of the Dream Center, 2100 Broadway Avenue. The facility will be open Monday at 4 p.m. and remain open until warmer temperatures.
If citizens are planning to spend the night, they are welcome to bring a change of clothes. Live Like Jesus Ministries will provide the beds, blankets and food.
