Convoy of Hope trucks are like a box of chocolates: you never know what you're going to get. Tuesday evening, a 53-foot Convoy of Hope trailer provided 38 pallets of food and goods to Great Bend's Live Like Jesus Today Ministries. Ministry Founder Buzz Birney and his helpers are distributing those goods to various food banks, churches, schools, and prisons around the area.

"I tell people it's like Christmas here," Birney said. "We know kind of what's on the trucks but most of it we don't. We open them up and it's just like Christmas. You're opening a gift."

Products on the trucks may include food items, non-edible consumables, and even footwear. Tuesday's truck included several pallets of dry food goods and beverages, as well as several pallets of first-aid materials. The items in the truck are overstock from various distributors. Birney's ministry typically just has to pay the freight costs to get the trucks to Great Bend.

"This is the second or third one in three years we've gotten," he said. "It's a special deal when you get a Convoy of Hope truck. We get truckloads of stuff all the time when I can afford to bring it in. I could get more, but that's the problem."

Birney and staff will bless various organizations with goods first, then the remainder of the items will be available to the public at the Live Like Jesus Today warehouse located at 700 Patton Road in Great Bend. Donations are always welcome and help the organization bring in more trucks. Follow the ministry on Facebook HERE for more information. Learn more about Convoy of Hope by CLICKING HERE.
