
The University of Kansas Health System in Great Bend welcomes Jessica Pries, MD, a board-certified general surgeon, to the care team at Great Bend Campus.
Dr. Pries grew up in central Kansas and she is glad to be back in the area and serving patients here. She was part of the Scholars in Rural Health program at the University of Kansas in Lawrence, where she earned a bachelor’s degree in cell biology. As a student who successfully completed the Scholars in Rural Health program, Dr. Pries was assured entrance to the University of Kansas School of Medicine.
“It is a real privilege to serve patients in the area where I grew up,” she said. “I enjoy offering patients a solution to their problem so they can get back to their daily life as quickly as possible.”
Dr. Pries has advanced training in minimally invasive surgery techniques as well as a special interest in hernia repairs and treating gallbladder disease. When not working, she enjoys traveling. She lives in the area with her husband and their animals.
Dr. Pries earned her medical degree at the University of Kansas School of Medicine in Wichita. She completed her general surgery residency at Ochsner Medical Center in New Orleans and a bariatric surgery fellowship at University of Missouri in Columbia, Missouri.
