The City of Great Bend received the first concept design for the installation of a splash pad at Veterans Memorial Park. The splash pad is one of the major projects the city is tackling to be funded from the .15% quality of life sales tax.
Interim City Administrator Logan Burns said the first design is in from
Athco, a playground equipment supplier based out of Lenexa, Kansas.
"I'm looking at bringing the design back to the next council meeting to save some costs," said Burns. "We'll probably be bringing shade structures and benches back at a later date. As long as we can get the splash pad design going, that's what I'm really looking for."
Last month, Burns stated the city hopes to have the feature constructed by May
2024. The splash pad will be located on the north side of Vets Park and is
expected to cost approximately $650,000.
