The Barton Community College men's track and field team delivered a statement weekend, splitting squads between the John Jacobs Invitational in Norman, Oklahoma, and the Arkansas Spring Invitational in Fayetteville, Arkansas, producing a wave of national qualifying marks and personal bests in climbing from No. 5 to No. 3 in the national rankings.

Fueled by dominant efforts in the throws and a surge of new qualifiers on the track, the Cougars showcased their depth in winning six events over the weekend, recording eleven personal and season-best marks, impacting the program record book, and adding seven new national qualifiers.

Competing in Norman on Friday, Barton's throws group set the tone with multiple event titles and personal bests. Jaylon Calder led the charge with a pair of victories, capturing the shot put (16.30m) and discus (53.97m), both personal best efforts improving his national qualifying marks. DeAndre Bristol added a national qualifying throw in the discus at 50.33m while also placing third in the javelin and shot put with a personal best 15.24m mark.

Ilia Ciui continued his standout season in the hammer throw, winning the event with a personal best toss of 60.68m, further improving his fourth-best mark in program history. Calder added another personal best in the hammer, while Bristol added depth in the event as well.

In Fayetteville on Saturday, the Cougars' sprint group turned in one of its most impactful outings of the season. Aragorn Straker and Devonric Mack each posted personal bests in the 100m at 10.32 and 10.35 respectively, before both added new national qualifying marks in the 200m at 20.61 and 21.28.

The hurdles group continued its consistency with Trevoy Smith finishing runner-up in the 400m hurdles at 50.96, while Nizer Smith added a personal best and national qualifying mark of 53.94.

The 4x400m relay of Emmanuel Adams, Furious Trammel, Gordon, and Johnson also turned in a season-best effort of 3:08.26 to place third behind a pair of University of Arkansas teams.

In the field events, Chavez Penn cleared a personal best 2.14m (7-0.25) to win the high jump, improving his seventh-best mark in program history, while Devon Williams captured the triple jump title with a national qualifying mark of 14.99m (49-2.25) in his outdoor debut.
