Leon Brungardt, age 67, died peacefully, surrounded by family on May 20, 2022, in the home of his son in Wichita, KS, after a short but courageous battle with cancer.
Leon was born on December 1, 1954, in Hays, KS, to Paul and Mildred Brungardt, and raised in Victoria, KS. He graduated from Victoria High School (Class of 1972) and Ft. Hays State University. Leon retired from a career in construction and woodworking.
Leon enjoyed life to its fullest. He loved his family and friends and was happiest when being of service to others. He enjoyed fishing, gardening, reading, playing scrabble, and was often found just relaxing.
Survivors include two sons, Aaron (Mikala), and Jared (Nettie), both of Wichita, KS; four sisters Carol (Chris) Cowger, Topeka, KS; Lois Yunker, Munjor, KS; Wanda (Ron Staab) Brungardt, Victoria, KS; and Paula (Patrick) Zwenger, Victoria, KS; and five grandchildren, Landon, Brielle, Ruhiyyih, Samira, and Leon Brungardt.
Leon was preceded in death by his parents, Paul and Mildred, two brothers, Steve and Mark, and one brother-in-law, Tom Yunker.
A memorial service is scheduled for Saturday, September 24, at 11 am, at St. Ann’s Catholic Church in Walker KS.
