The Great Bend Recreation Commission is just over two weeks away from transforming the city auditorium into Santa’s Workshop. The annual event takes place Dec. 5 and children will be able to visit with Santa Claus, enjoy treats and create crafts.

Rec Commission Enrichment Director Garet Fitzpatrick said there will be plenty of activities and things to see for all.

"We'll be giving away craft antlers for kids," said Fitzpatrick. "We'll have red noses for the kids. This will be a photo op for them. We're changing up our fish pond this year. We're still giving out balloons, necklaces and coloring books."

The Great Bend Rec used a drive-through experience the last two years for Santa’s Workshop due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Being the first year back indoors, the GBRC staff is going all out to decorate the auditorium this year. There will be a large banner, pop-up backdrops, photo opportunity props, new displays and Christmas trees. Multiple stations will be handing out treats and prizes

Santa’s Workshop is from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Dec. 5 and is designed for preschool children through 6th grade.
