
Eight Cougar entries entered day three of the NJCAA Division I Men's Tennis Championships with two surviving as the 6th ranked Barton Community College men's tennis team sits in fourth place of the team standings.
As Barton's top three singles entries went down in the 8:00 a.m. Quarterfinals, No. 4 flight Barnabas Kalaba marched on to the National Semifinals as the 3rd seed defeated 6th seeded Maxime Guyon (Pratt) 6-1, 6-0. Next up will be an 8:00 a.m. Thursday tangle with 2nd seeded Gaston Erhardt (Cowley) to earn the right into Friday's championship match.
In the afternoon session, Kalaba joined No. 2 flight doubles partner James Kaoma in defeating 6th seeded Adrien Gulbert and Djordje Kurcubic (Collin College) 6-2, 7-6(1). The 3rd seeded duo will take on 2nd seeded Diego Dalisay and Tim Riedel (Tyler JC) in National Semifinals at 1:00 p.m. Thursday.
