Legal fees and consequences for driving under the influence are no way to start out a new year. Eagle Media is once again teaming up with the Great Bend Police Department to offer residents a safe ride home on Dec. 31 with the New Year's Eve Taxi.
More than 30 Barton County residents took advantage of the service last year. For a $10 donation, per ride home, an off-duty Great Bend police officer will transport residents anywhere in the county. The service is for getting home, not for going from one bar to another.
Proceeds from the New Year's Eve Taxi will benefit the Great Bend Police Department's Shop with a Cop program. Eagle Media will match up to $500.
This year's New Year's Eve Taxi is presented by Nex-Tech Wireless, Miller Plastics, and Z's Liquor and Z's Liquor Mart. It's sponsored in part by Haz-Mat Response, Rosencrantz Bemis Water Well Company, and Freedom Claims Management.
